I'm a California girl. I was raised there and have been all throughout California. Places to go and things to do include: Drive up the Pacific Cost Highway, Disneyland, Hollywood, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Municipal Rose Garden, Catalina Island, San Diego Zoo, Golden Gate Bridge, Napa Valley Wineries, and the famous Winchester Mansion
Oregon is a coastal U.S. state in the Pacific Northwest known for its diverse landscape of forests, mountains, farms and beaches. Places to go and things to do include: The deepest lake in the US Crater Lake National Park, eat at all the Portland food truck stops, visit all the Portlandia landmarks (Powell's Books), and sooo much more.
The State of Washington is a nature lovers dream. The natural scenery in the state is some of the most breath taking and awe-inspiring in the entire United States. Things to do and see include: Pike Place Market in Seattle, Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, the Space Needle in Seattle, and the Original Starbucks in Seattle.
My family lived in Montana with entire extended family, my two sisters were born in Missoula, Montana. I remember 100+ acres of rolling hills, rivers, and natural beauty all around. Beauty surrounds this rocky mountain state, including Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, Big Sky Resort, and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center.
Nevada is a western U.S. state defined by its great expanses of desert, and by the 24-hour casinos and entertainment for which its largest city, Las Vegas, is famed. If the lights in Las Vegas are too much for you, you can visit Death Valley National Park or Red Rock Canyon, relax at Lake Tahoe, and don't forget to go see the Hoover Dam.
When driving through Utah, stop by Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Canyons National Park, and rest up in Salt Lake City or Park City or nearby Ski Resorts.
When in Arizona, head to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, drop by and visit Phoenix and Scottsdale.
South Dakota is an expansive, sparsely populated midwestern U.S. state where rolling prairies give way to the dramatic Black Hills National Forest. Black Hills is home to 2 historical monuments carved right into towering granite peaks: Mt. Rushmore, the iconic depiction of 4 revered U.S. presidents, and Crazy Horse Memorial, a tribute to the storied Native American tribal leader.
And North Dakota is a midwestern U.S. state dominated by the Great Plains.
Nebraska is a midwestern U.S. state encompassing the prairies of the Great Plains, the towering dunes of the Sandhills and the panhandle’s dramatic rock formations. Lincoln, the capital and a vibrant university town, is distinguished by its soaring state capitol. The city of Omaha is home to the Durham Museum, which honors the state’s pioneering past in a converted railroad depot.
Greensburg, Kansas, the place I was born and then almost got wiped off the face of the earth after the last tornado hit in 2007.
Simple places to visit are: Big Well Museum, Kiowa County Historical Museum and Soda Fountain, Twilight Theater and Community Auditorium, and Heart of America Science Recourse Center. Indiana where he was born, known for its love of basketball and for producing stars such as Larry Bird and Louie Dampier, has generated the fifth-highest number of professional basketball players per capita of any state.
Wausau, Wisconsin, the place we started our midwest journey from Dallas, Texas. We worked on ginseng farms.
Minnesota, the place where we raised our family and currently call home. Home to the late Prince, Minnesota contains more than 10,000 other lakes, the “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis and state capital Saint Paul are dense with cultural landmarks like the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Walker Art Center, a modern art museum.
Illinois, our neighbor state, and places to see are Millennium Park, Willis Tower, Navy Pier, and Cloud Gate.
Tennessee is a landlocked state in the U.S. South. Its capital, centrally located Nashville, is the heart of the country-music scene, with the long-running Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and a legendary stretch of honky-tonks and dance halls. Memphis, in the far southwest, is the home of Elvis Presley’s Graceland, rock-and-roll pioneering Sun Studio and the blues clubs of Beale Street.
Michigan, with so much to see and do in Michigan, it’s hard to choose how to spend your time there. You can start at the Great Lakes Ship Wreck Museum, lay on the beach at Holland State Park, drive across the Mackinac Bridge, spend a day sailing on Lake Michigan, and eat a Coney Island Hot Dog, a staple of Michigan. Or you can do what we do...visit family in Detroit, Troy, Flint, and Pontiac.
Colorado is noted for its vivid landscape of mountains, forests, high plains, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers and desert lands. Colorado is part of the western and southwestern United States and is one of the Mountain States. Denver is the capital and most populous city of Colorado.
When the kids were smaller, we took the kids on a road trip and stopped by the hot springs, enjoyed hikes in the mountains, and fished in a well stocked little kids pond where the fish were charged by the pound.
Texas, the place where it all began in the summer of 1991. We met, we crushed, we stayed in touch. His home state.
Texas is a state in the South Central Region of the United States. It is the second largest U.S. state by both area and population.
Florida, a state where we frequent so much that we made Florida our full time home spot in 2020. Planning to live here until the days not longer satisfy our ocean needs and desires.
Florida is the southeasternmost U.S. state, with the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other. It has hundreds of miles of beaches. The city of Miami is known for its Latin-American cultural influences and notable arts scene, as well as its nightlife, especially in upscale South Beach. Orlando is famed for theme parks, including Walt Disney World.
From the coast to the mountains and everything in between, Georgia has well-known and off-the-beaten-path gems in cities both big and small. Popular destinations like Atlanta, Ellijay, Helen, Jekyll Island, and Savannah are just the start. Begin your journey by exploring Georgia’s cities below.
